Privacy notice
Last updated: 30 September 2026
Here we explain what data this site collects, why, who it is shared with and how you can ask us to see, correct or delete it. We try to put it simply, the way you would between walking companions.
Who handles your data
The data controller is Federico Ordonselli, who runs the Vagabondando website. For any privacy question you can write to fede.ordons@gmail.com.
What data we collect
When you visit the site. The company hosting the site automatically records some technical information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, date and time. It is needed to run the site and protect it from abuse, not to profile you. We don't use analytics tools.
When you fill in the «Contact me» form. We collect the name and email address you enter, the language you are browsing in and the story you are writing from. They reach us as an email and we use them only to reply to you. To prevent abuse, your IP address is used to count submissions (at most three every ten minutes) and the site checks that the request doesn't come from an automated program.
When you write to us to organise an outing. Nothing is paid online on Vagabondando: outings are arranged by email or by direct message on Instagram. In that case we process the data you send us, usually name, contact details, dates, number of participants and any questions. If you tell us about your health (allergies, physical conditions useful for choosing the route), we use that information only to organise the outing safely and only because you gave it to us.
Why we use it
- To answer your requests and organise the outing: this is necessary to follow up on what you ask us (Art. 6.1.b GDPR).
- Health information you give us: we process it on the basis of your explicit consent (Art. 9.2.a), which you can withdraw at any time.
- To keep the site safe and working, including the form's submission limit: this is our legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f).
External services the site uses
Some parts of the site rely on services from other companies, which process data on our behalf:
- Vercel: hosts the site and checks that form requests don't come from automated programs.
- Resend: delivers the form's messages by email.
- Upstash: keeps, for a few minutes, the count of submissions linked to your IP address.
- Sanity: stores the site's content and serves its photos.
- Instagram (Meta Platforms Ireland): the site only contains links to the profile and posts, no embedded content. If you open a link you are on Instagram and its rules apply.
Transfers outside the European Union
Some of these providers may process data in the United States. They do so with the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
Cookies
The site uses no profiling or analytics cookies. Your browser only keeps your choice between the light and dark theme, which never leaves your device. That's why you don't see a cookie banner.
How long we keep it
- Messages and requests: for as long as it takes to reply and organise the outing, then for 24 months at most, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- The form's submission count: ten minutes.
- Technical browsing data: for the period set by the hosting provider, usually a few weeks.
Your rights
At any time you can ask us to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, receive it in a readable format or object to its processing (Articles 15–22 GDPR). If you gave us consent, you can withdraw it without affecting what was done before. Just write to fede.ordons@gmail.com: we reply within a month.
If you think your data is being handled improperly, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
Security and minors
We don't sell your data or share it with anyone for advertising. We keep it with reasonable measures and the site uses an encrypted connection.
The site is not aimed at children under 14. If you are younger, ask a parent to contact us for you.
Changes to this notice
If we change the way we handle data, we update this page and the date at the top.
